During exploration 33 we came upon a problem that asked a simple yes or no question. The question asked the cost of the 20 mpg car halfway between the 15 and 25 mpg cars. The answer was simple to me it was no. Though a lot of my group said yes. I redid the problem and I still got no its not better it's more towards 25 mpg.I showed them that they somehow got yes.The amount for 20 mpg = $772.5 25 mpg = $613 and 15 mpg = $1,030 so if you take both of those dollar amounts and minuses them from each other it be $417. This would mean that it would be closer to the 25 mpg. After explaining this they agreed that they somehow got yes and changed their answers.
I have grown in my math skills through this year as a junior. I feel as though I have grown in my ability to find and correct logical flaws. I worked with a seminar group during these last couple of months and there were points when I noticed that the equation seemed off. During one of our little seminars I was watching this girl put in the board an answer to an equation. I noticed that she didn’t put up the write the answer I had. Thinking I was wrong I ignored it, turns out she did the problem incorrectly. Step by step I was able to solve it with her. She then found out she used the wrong formula. The downside I have to this is that I always think I’m right when it come to solving problems. I get annoyed when other people don’t have the same answers or they got a different answer completely. This showed up in Exploration 33 when we were to graph rational functions and I messed up on them. At first I thought that everyone did it wrong in my seminar, turns out I did. I didn't follow a curtain equation which lead me to a different answer.

One math skill that I have mastered is Identify and apply appropriate tools. This lets me apply different values to different equations. Such as exponential growth and decay equations.
I learned this on exploration 12 where and which exponents were which. This helped me figure out what I needed to solve for and how to place the equation so I can solve it.
On Exploration 13 I was able to figure out the equation super quick. I was able to apply the equation and get the answer I needed. This process took me less than 3 minutes.
As you can see on my Exponents and Logarithms test. I had to apply the same values to the equation. I easily got this done and that made me really happy.
I alway formulate a plan for my math problems when there to big for me to solve as one whole. This helps me solve the equation and get the answer. The reason this is so important is because in the future I will be able to break up an equation and come up with the best answer. With this skill I can solve y=m(x)+b and conversions which will be helpful in the future if I go into nursing.
Solving an equation step by step can be really helpful. If you get something wrong then a person can point it out.
Here I was transferring liters to gallons and this is a different way we were taught. This can help me in a nursing job because you need to transfer the metric system into the international system.
