Our physics class did an activity called the rocket project. At first it was really exciting. I was supposed to bring in the bottles. When I got home I went to grab the bottles for the next day, but it turned out my mom threw them away. I came to school the next day and told my partner that my mom threw the bottles away by accident. my partner said she would bring them, but almost every day she would say she forgot them. It had been almost two weeks before I brought them in.We started making the bottle rocket really late so it wasn't even near done as the due date approached. One day my partner called me saying she wasn't going to be there for almost two weeks. When I have a partner, it is nice to have them help me, and she wasn't going to be there. When she finally got back she didn't want to do anything. Then she yelled at me for not telling her what to do. I didn't know what to do: we had hardly started on the rocket and she was more concerned about the theme of the rocket and what we should call it than getting it built. My partner and I pulled our rocket together in two hours before exhibition . At exhibition our rocket launched--it actually launched and flew. We where so happy and I was happy just to get it of my chest.
Rocket Log
Day 1- Tomorrow we will work on getting the bottles here and the pelxy glass I am super existed to start.
Day 2- My parent accidentally through away all the bottles I have been keeping hostage so my partner is going to bring them tomorrow.
Day 3- My partner forgot the bottles so we will bring them tomorrow.
Day 4- My partner was absent so I don't have the bottles.
Day 5- Everyone has launched there rocket at least once but my partner is still gone and I cant bring bottles from home.
Day 6- I finally convinced my mother to buy soda so I am going to bring them soon.
Day 7- We only have two days before we have exhibition and we are only half way done and my partner is not really helping.
Day 8- We just got our rocket together and now its ready to fly I have no idea what will happen
Conclusion
We started with the rocket building then we went to the test launches after a long couple of weeks we had exhibition. Our rocket is made with two liter bottles and a one liter bottle. The rocket we launched mass 0.6 kg without the bottle charged and ready to fire. Then you have to get your propellant mass alone 3.0 kg. If you take 3.0 + 0.6 you get 3.6 as your final answer for empty rocket mass. There was a special group of kids at the rocket exhibition to record the angle it went and how much psi it used. Our rocket launched at 75 psi and our angle was 43 degrees. Our rocket deployed its parachute which is also the friction device. Our friction devices radius was 0.21.
