For my LINK I will be going out into the community to explore my love of art. With the help of my mentor Rubi I will able to expand my knowledge of art. My hopes for LINK is learning how to get my art out into the community. My art skills at the moment are very limited. I mostly work on character illustrations which is not a very unique skill in this modern day. During these couple of weeks I hope I will be able to use programs I've never used before.
When I'm drawing I usually use a sketch pad and Paint tool sai. When working with her I hope I will be learning about how colors and different colors shades make the artwork look. I'm not very good at that in general so that should be interesting. Also being able to reach out into the community, working with other companies and clients would be great thing to learn. Rubi will help me take those couple of steps in the right direction.

This was my last week of work for Rubi and I have learned a lot of things. For one I don't think I can sit down at a computer for that long. I would go from 10-5 or 6 and by the time I got home I was tired, I falling asleep while drinking coffee. The DGO illustrations came out great and they looked amazing.
I did the tracing for the mountains and colored them in. Then I removed the glasses glare from the girls glasses because it was distracting. Rubi and I also ran into an illusion problem. When ever we but the DGO logo on the girl image it would show up gray. Turns out that the colors that we were using in the background were the problem. The way we decided was that either it was going to have to look like a card or it was going to look like a pow from a super man comic. The superman comic pow though didn't really work. I couldn't get the colors to work with the background and it just seemed out of place. The guy was fun to make though. I got his logo on his shirt on and it looks pretty good, We didn't have the illusion problem with him. Rubi and I got the quotes on the illustration, we added them onto the lunch pails as well just to see how it looks. Remember when I said that in the last week I would be helping set up the Durango Voice. Well not only did I set up, I also made the rewards. I was using gold spray paint and old record to make them. We tried out a lot of different things like making the records gold but then realizing that the plaques were gold. I was making the different awards for the show then helped set up. Im sad though that I couldn't attend the actual show but I had a great time. I got to met DGO, DGO stands for Durango Growth Organization. This Organization reaches out to smaller networking companies to help them succeed. They seem really nice and not as scary as I once though they were. After ward the rest of the week I was working on the DGO lunch pails.
I started on the guy and got the background for the girl. The guy was a lot harder though to draw mostly because I was going off of a real person. When drawing him I also did the mountains which happen to be the rockies. Due to DGO's location we though it would be nice to have a little bit of home in it. The mountain colors along with the girls shirt are both the DGO logo colors. We also tried out different backgrounds for the girl. Rubi and I both really liked the train behind her but with only two weeks left I didn't have time to make the train. Rubi decided on mountains that had this really pretty yellow color. I have already started on tracing the mountains and all the colors are picked out so It wont be much of a problem next week. I have started on a project called DGO Lunchpails. Rubi and I have decided that in this project there will be a front side and a back side. At first Rubi said that we were doing an illustration of the Rocky Mountains in Vector form but then she changed her mind. Instead we are doing a man and a woman on the front and back of the lunch-pails. They will have different quotes that are powering to a business person. I will be meeting the company on Tuesday of next week. I have also fixed a poster that was for Dancing with the Stars of Durango.
The first step in this processes was finding the photos that we were going to need. Such as stage, character, coloring and design. Once we got the reference images we traced the original and made the girl a little less busty and more slim. Her colors and her shirt were fixed so she wasn't showing to much. Once we got the trancing done we add the colors to her. Her hair was originally dark brown with light brown highlights but that got changed last minute as you can see from the third image. Rubi and I also are working on a side project for Dancing With The stars Durango and The Durango Voice. She said that I can work on the poster on the for the Dancing With The stars Durango but I shouldn't be worried about the Durango Voice till the third week. I cant wait to continue my internship with her. |
